There are countless things to do near Grange Over Sands in the environs of Bankfield House. Situated on the fringe of the Lake District National Park you have all the outdoor activities that has to offer, along with many cultural attractions.
Bankfield House is well suited to walking holidays being so close to the attractions of the Lake District National Park. Have a read through the walks I’ve listed in our walking section. These include local walks you can do from the house with a couple of options to keep both experienced and inexperienced walkers happy.
Cultural sights are also plentiful. Nearby we have Holker Hall, home of Lord and Lady Cavendish which is well known for it’s lovely gardens. They hold numerous events throughout the year so check out their website in our links section. We also have Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall nearby which are also popular.
The area is also becoming a bit of foodie mecca with restaurants like L’Enclume Michelin just a mile away holding 2 Michelin stars and being rated the second best restaurant in the country in the Good Food Guide – not bad. I’ve reviewed some of the places to eat and drink for you to look through. Please do leave your own comments if you want to let other guests know what you have experienced – good or bad.
I’ve also built a section of the site focused on our family favourites which should give you the ‘locals view’ of the area and list some sights that you will not find in guide books. A number of these tips have been listed with kids in mind because we have plenty of them in the family and they always need entertaining.
Below is a short summary of the things the area has to offer but please do ask if you want any advice. We’ve also put a series of links in each of the sections so you can do some more research.
